VENUS GRRRLS - Mother Knows
VENUS GRRRLS announce upcoming EP 'To Die as Lovers May', single 'Mother Knows' out now!

VENUS GRRRLS have just dropped their new single 'Mother Knows' which is inspired by the myth of Mary Shelley having sex on her mother's grave. The Northern alt-rock Coven have had a busy 2026 so far with festival appearances from BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend to 2000 Trees, a tour with Nova Twins and recording their EP. The act now seem fully in hype up the EP mode with the release of singles 'Mother Knows' and 'Eve' before it. 'To Die as Lovers May' which is set for release October 16th sees the group, through five impactful tracks, create their own Universe. 'Mother Knows' acts as the perfect taste of playful yet dark storytelling.
"Written about the myth of Mary Shelley having sex on her mother's grave. There's a lot of discourse and nuances to whether this truly happened, but the alleged event really struck me visually and immediately inspired me to narrate it lyrically. Toying with some imagery in her iconic novel, Frankenstein, I wanted there to be a double entendre within the lyricism. Her written character, Victor Frankenstein, brought flesh to life, and I liked the idea of passion and sex also metaphorically bringing flesh to life, too." - (GK, Vocalist, VENUS GRRLS)
The evocative new single from VENUS GRRRLS is easily one of my favourite releases from the band to date. Complete with a classic rock riff, punchy beats and their signature haunting style vocal. This gothic leaning alternative rock piece acts like an incantation compelling you to witness the dark tale. 2026 is the year for VENUS GRRRLS as they keep just getting bigger and better.
