Afterlife share new single 'Empty' with accompanying music video, alongside the announcement of brand new album 'The Pain That Shapes Us' which is set for release November 6th via Mascot Records. Afterlife are a band who since solidifying their lineup back in 2017 have been making big waves in the rock and metal genres. Having bonded over a love for artists like Slipknot, Linkin Park and Papa Roach these guys have formed a sound that's fierce, modern and complete with a hint of nu metal nostalgia. I mentioned how this is a band making an impact on the scene and this was obvious right from the start when the four piece sold-out their very first headlining gig. They have also been seen on some of the biggest festivals including Welcome to Rockville, Louder Than Life, Shiprocked Cruise and more. In 2024 the band also saw TikTok virality after the release of their single 'Bleed You Dry'. Now, gearing up to release their next album, Afterlife have dropped what is easily one of their most vulnerable singles 'Empty'.

"'Empty' navigates the reality of a devastating heartbreak, exploring the weight of emotional emptiness and mental exhaustion. For me, it's one of the most vulnerable songs on the album, born from a collection of unforgettable experiences woven into one tragic outcome. The emotional honesty guided not only the lyrics but also the sound of the track. During the songs creation, we wanted the atmosphere to match the moodiness of the lyrics, allowing us to create a unique sonic landscape, setting the song apart on the album... When writing this song, I know that the only way to truly express the songs emotions was through singing them, making 'Empty' the first Afterlife track without screaming or rapping." - (Tyler Levenson, Vocals, Afterlife)

Afterlife are a band that never seem to shy away from writing about personal experiences in the most honest way and 'Empty' truly embraces that. Still feeling like a big metalcore type track especially in the gritty yet massive chorus but this single is still a little stripped back in ways, relying more on melodic vocal lines and truthful storytelling. 'Empty' is a powerful release that has furthered my love for this band and I cannot wait till November to hear 'The Pain That Shapes Us' in its entirety.
