with support from iwanttobeontv and TTLS

Almost a year since I last wrote about a Fog Bandits show and the jump from that King Tuts headline to the one we saw at McChuills a few nights ago further proves to me why this is a band that are going to be making big moves. The sell-out show in the basement type venue felt like the perfect setting for a night of chaos and delightful chaos it was. From the pop-punk alt vibrant sounds of opener TTLS, to the electronic alt music from duo iwanttobeontv, and then the explosion of metalcore leaning alternative from headliner Fog Bandits this was a night not to be missed.

Kicking it off with already a fairly impressive crowd gathered was TTLS. Now I may be a bit biased when it comes to these guys but I do truly think they put on one of the most fun shows. Their summery sounds which feel pop-punk alt with a hint of emo always get the crowd going. Whether on or off the stage this is an act that know how to win people over, clearly a group of friends who are up having a laugh together while also producing some of the catchiest tracks. TTLS provide big choruses that encourage each and every person to sing-a-long and even packed together on the tiny stage the group still found room to have a little boogie with each other. The alt act proved why you should always head down for the opener.

The second show of the night was from an act that I have been dying to see for a while now and even with my high expectations iwanttobeontv more than delivered. The electronic alternative duo (to be honest I'm not even sure how to genre these guys) have bee on my radar for a while and have created quite a buzz around themselves in the local scene. Throwing out pure energy at an audience who were ready to receive, the vocalist made use of the whole stage space barely ever standing still, and to be honest I don't think it would be possible to stand still during high-energy tracks like that. I had previously listened to these guys recorded but nothing compares to the show they deliver and there's something special about seeing the simple duo of a vocalist and drummer rip through a massive sounding set. Naming a couple of stand-out moments their cover of Britney Spears 'Toxic' was very cool and then I think they said a song that was their next single really had me wanting to dance.

As I mentioned before it's been a while since I've seen Fog Bandits and in that time they've definitely cooked up something even more special. For the first time that night loyal friends and listeners were pushed right up against the stage eagerly awaiting the four-piece to take their place and oh my God these guys know how to kick off a show. From the very first track, barely even the first few notes in the whole room was moving and I overheard a voice from behind me comment "I think I'm going to die tonight" before the steady jumping broke into an intense pit. Sound wise the Glasgow act have kicked it up a gear leaning way more into a modern metalcore sound and this works so well for them. By a couple songs in I was totally locked into the show and atmosphere of the crowd, you could almost feel the energy bouncing off the walls. Making their way through a set of old and new tracks, as an audience we were barely given a second to breathe but I wouldn't have it any other way. Most of the night is a blur of high-energy and screaming songs with my friends but moments like when they played a couple of unreleased new tracks, which are so good by the way, or when they took out the little teddy bear that features on the single cover for new song 'TRY ME' stuck with me. To wrap this up all I can say is if you're looking for a high-energy show and are into music a little bit on the heavier side you do not want to sleep on these guys because I can see them moving their way up soon.
