Djent-pop-metal act Sixth Wonder evolve their sound even further with new single 'Burnout'.
Sixth Wonder deliver a slightly new sound with single 'Burnout', continuing their ever evolving musical journey. The djent-pop-metal act from Glasgow have more than made their stamp on the scene over the years. 2025 saw the band crowned Best Metal at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards for the second time, as well as the success of their EP 'Prologue'. Now in 2026 with a string of singles under their belt and impressive live shows including tours with The Hara and Mallavora the band are rounding out the year by joining Skindred at the legendary Barrowland Ballroom venue as well as their first festival headline at Alt \\Fest in Cardiff. New single 'Burnout' focuses on someone's toxic inner monologue.
"'Burnout' is a song that has been inspired by my real life and dealings with the pressures that come alongside 'doing what you love' for work and the way it is viewed from the outside as rosy, despite the drawbacks. It speaks on the guilt of speaking out about burnout and the perception of ungratefulness when doing so. It is a song about the battle of weaning mental health when pushed to your limits versus the attitude of being lucky and fortunate to do what you love despite this." - (Rebekah Kirk, Vocals, Sixth Wonder)
'Burnout' creates a soundscape that acts as some sort of liminal, uncanny valley. Much like the liminal land of the backrooms it's easy to get lost inside the track with it's dreamy moments, ferocious growls that sneak through and the overall unusual metal/pop sounds. This is a single that will lure you in gently but soon enough you'll be happy to get lost inside the swirling sounds and subtle almost dance like beats before the guitars breakthrough taking you somewhere else completely. I've always said Sixth Wonder create not just enjoyable tracks but something different with every one and this recent string of singles 'Burnout' included further proves the acts talents as musicians.
