Calva Louise release their first single since 2025's 'Edge of the Abyss', the stunning 'La Promesa'. The past couple of years have been a whirlwind for the trio, from European tours with Bloodywood and Stray From the Path, to their own UK headline tours and a couple of headline tours over in the US as well, one of which they co-headlined with VUKOVI. New single 'La Promesa' sees Calva Louise go back to their roots a little bit as it's mainly sung in vocalist Allanics native Spanish. The piece explores the feelings of invisible forces pushing you forward.

"Although some of those forces can be positive, others can become empty promises rooted in obsession and delusions. Eventually blurring the lines between doing the right thing, accepting a more challenging path or choosing to ignore the consequences of your own actions because it's the easy way out. As Spanish is my native language, it feels more natural for me to accurately convey the abstract emotions that we are experiencing. Also as the song is heavily inspired by Venezuelan Joropo (also known as Musica Llanera) Spanish was subconsciously the only way for me to sing this melody, letting the natural flow of the writing process take total control. That being said, some French lines are sung by our bass player Alizon, as a nod to our multiculteral background, and also adding another perspective to the characters point of view." - (Jess Allanic, Vocals & Guitar, Calva Louise)

Translated as 'The Promise' in Spanish this single and accompanying music video continue to build upon the strange yet amazing world that Calva Louise have been creating. Whiplash will quickly come at you as this one throws you from the light Spanish influenced moments to the heavy screams that feel as though something is trying to break out of hell. In a way this one reminds me of some kind of dark fairytale where it looks like the bad guy might win. I honestly at this point think I am a fan of anything that Calva Louise put out and the beautiful chaos of 'La Promesa' is no different.
