New Low - False Crown
New Low burst onto the scene with single 'False Crown'.
New Low breakthrough from the underground with their hard-hitting debut single 'False Crown'. Formed from the ashes of previous projects, after all of the members took some time away from music New Low are something new and each and every memeber is hungier than ever. The five-piece metal act is made up of previous members of Hildamay, Drones and Broken Tooth with vocalist Neil Bailey currently fronting Kodama as well. 'False Crown' deals with feelings of imposter syndrome head on.
"'False Crown' explores the relentless grip of imposter syndrome, following someone trapped in a war against their own mind. Despite every achievement, they're haunted by the belief that they're a fraud, waiting for the moment everyone discovers the never deserved their place. The song moves between suffocating self-doubt and explosive rage, capturing the exhaustion of fighting an enemy that wears your own face. Beneath the crushing riffs and raw aggression lies a desperate search for self-worth, ending on the realisation that the loudest accusations often come from within, not from the world around them." - (Neil Bailey, Vocals, New Low)
Sitting somewhere between modern metalcore and more classic metal genres 'False Crown' will grip you from the start with guitars and drums that thunder through the track and intense screams. Even the more melodic feeling chorus has bite and almost gutteral vocal tones. This is a heavy piece with an energy that lets me know immediately that this is a band I will have to see live. For a breakthrough piece as the new New Low I am hooked and excited to see what will come next.
