Neptune Rain are releasing an extended version of 'Chaos and Light' which will feature new singles 'We Breathe The Same', 'Bitter Pill' and also unheard track 'Rise'. The extended edition of their EP will be available to stream from the 5th of November. Neptune Rain are a alt rock/ rap metal/ nu metal Cheltenhan based band that came together in late 2019. The group spent 2020 putting together their debut EP 'Chaos and Light' and also over lockdown played full socially distant band playthroughs online from their homes. Debut single 'If That Was Love' was picked up by BBC Radio Gloucestershire and their follow up single 'All Pain No Gain' gave them a further four nights on the station with Maddie Simpson. This band combine pain and hope to create these lyrically inspiring songs while throwing together soaring synths and distorted guitars that gives the listener this stratospheric modern rock sound. To pick a favourite song on 'Chaos and Light' is almost impossible for me. I truly loved every track and each one has it's place on this project. Having said that though I think that 'We Breathe The Same' may hold the top spot becuase not only is it a great song to listen to but it feels important lyrically. Then there is 'The Weight of Giving Up' which also comes to mind as a stand out song, that almost sad metal type guitar melody that just encompasses modern rock/metal music. This one in particular showed the bands influences, artists such as: Linkin Park, 30 Seconds To Mars, Bring Me The Horizon and Papa Roach. Another song I have to mention is new track and EP opener 'Rise'. This one is Neptune Rain's most hopeful and uplifting song yet and it delivers the listener high energy and lets them know exactly what 'Chaos and Light' is about from the get-go. With a super, lifting, catchy chorus this is one I gaurantee you'll be singing along with in no time. This is for me the song that made me go "I have to see these guys live", so hopefully it gives you that same feeling of excitement.
"'Rise' is essentially a pep-talk to myself after a couple of really difficult years - both personally and for the world as a whole - and in it I am trying to revive a sense of self-worth, eradicate any lingering doubts I have, and double down on the belief I have always held, that life is too short to not pursue one's dreams. I think and certainly hope that this concept is one which many of us can relate to." (Kieran, Frontman)
As I said before I liked every song on this EP and this is a band I am very happy to have been brought to my attention. I feel that there is a nice mix of rap, metal and pop melodies within this collection of songs. 'Chaos and Light' the whole way through is catchy, high energy and the kind of music you want to be seeing live and singing along with at the top of your lungs. You can pick up a copy of 'Chaos and Light - Extended Edition' at a live show or check it out when it is available for streaming from the 5th of November.
