Rioghan releases a stunning Modern Talking cover of 'Lonely Tears In China'

Finnish songstress Rioghan has released a beautiful and powerful cover of legendary German synth-pop duo Modern Talking's 'Lonely Tears In China'. This song will be on her upcoming EP 'Covers II' which is set to be released November 19th via Inverse Records. Rioghan is a solo project lead by Rioghan Darcy. Rioghan was founded in 2019 and is based in Lapua, Finland. The project is rooted in the gothic and progressive metal scenes. Rioghan Darcy started out in 2010 as a poetry and lyric writer but by 2019 she wanted to add some more to the mix. Teaming up with skilled songwriters they made a four song EP 'Blackened Sky' which was released earlier in 2021 via Inverse Records. The as of yet unnamed debut album will be coming out in 2022.

In my opinion Rioghan did an absolutely amazing job of this cover. The mix of her metal roots and the synth-pop song create this really enjoyable pop/metal sound and dare I say I actually prefer this cover to the original. Everything about this version of 'Lonely Tears In Chinatown' just works for me. If you're a fan of pop influenced metal tracks go give this one a listen, it's definitely worth it.
