Aberdeen based four-piece Masenko are tapping into a more classic rock sound with their new single 'Wait', out 23rd of September.
Masenko are delivering a sound that's a little different from previous work with new single 'Wait'. The track leans more into a classic rock style and shows off upbeat guitar work and catchy vocal lines.
'Wait' which will be released on the 23rd of September stands out in Masenko's discography. Taking influence from artists such as Led Zeppelin and Creedence Clearwater Revival the energetic song doesn't stick to a standard flow making it a really interesting listen.
'Wait' talks about the feeling that we are always waiting for something more in life so when the good things come we aren't happy with them for long. As children we could be excited about what was right in front of us but in adulthood that is not the case.
Opening with a fun, nostalgic feeling tone 'Wait' quickly becomes a song that's hard not to bop your head to. As it goes along this high energy is never lost, if anything it grows and is complimented by the large vocals in the chorus. 'Wait' feels like it could have come straight out of the 70's especially with the guitars that seem so far from the modern rock sound we are used to today. I personally am a big fan of this one and it's ability to have the nostalgic type sound without being a direct copy of bands from the past.
If you're looking for a fun new track to check out this is one to listen to. Comparing it to past songs from Masenko I think that it shows a lot of growth in sound and that the four-piece are not just one trick ponies. 'Wait' is almost more grown up and is definitely a new favourite from their discography for me. So check it out when it is released on the 23rd of September.
