Singer-Songwriter Leon O'Leary uses playful lyricism to tell the story in his new anthemic track 'She Knows Me'.
Leon O'Leary combines upbeat melodies and anthemic build ups in 'She Knows Me', a track that tells the story of a younger man falling for an older woman. Influenced by artists such as Sam Fender, Bruce Springsteen, The War On Drugs and Ben Howard, the indie/alternative artist has already gained recognition being named one of BBC Introducing East's 'Artists To Watch For 2022'. He has also performed at festivals like Latitude, Wild Paths and Ipswich Sound City. Leon O'Leary self-produces his music and takes inspiration for his sound from the pine forests and wilderness which he was surrounded with growing up. 'She Knows Me' is a track about a younger guy who falls for an older woman. The song starts out with this dark toned guitar sprinkled with upbeat notes and this is soon joined by the hypnotic vocals that make Leon O'Leary recognizable. As the song grows it reaches more anthemic heights and this makes it one that completely captures my attention the whole way through, and I couldn't get enough. This one is more lyrically playful than tracks I have heard from Leon O'Leary before, containing lines such as "she calls herself a carpenter, who carves boys into men" describing the woman's experience with relationships which she bestows upon the boy in the story. At only 19 years old Leon O'Leary is an artist I am really impressed by. I really enjoyed previous track 'China Heart' that I reviewed but 'She Knows Me' is one I love even more. This song to me could easily have been written by an established artist that has been doing it for years. The fact that this one was self-produced makes it even more impressive to me. If you haven't checked Leon O'Leary out yet I would highly recommend doing so, especially this new track 'She Knows Me'.
