Dinosaur Pile-Up - Sick Of Being Down

Dinosaur Pile-Up tear into a post traumatic existential breakdown on their new track 'Sick Of Being Down'.

Dinosaur Pile-Up continue on a reflective journey with new single 'Sick Of Being Down', which has dropped ahead of their album 'I've Felt Better' which is set for release on the 22nd of August via Mascot Records. Dinosaur Pile-Up have roared back into life after some time away. With previous recent singles, the massive 'Big Dogs' and hip-hop inflected 'My Way', bringing the band back onto people's playlists and the forefront of TikTok scrolls, Dinosaur Pile-Up may be gearing up to release their biggest album yet. On top of the album release the guys have announced a UK headlining tour and an enormous tour of the US with A Day To Remember and Yellowcard. With new single 'Sick Of Being Down' vocalist Matt Bigland channels the harrowing experience he went through being hospitalized with ulcerative colitis and what he went through trying to adjust to life back home afterwards.

"'Sick Of Being Down' is essentially a post-traumatic existential breakdown articulated as a 3-minute garage punk rock song. Trying to readjust myself to life after hospital was a really confusing journey. I felt conflicted about myself. What I liked and what I didn't. What I was, what I wasn't. All my priorities had changed, my 'place' in the world felt different, and that was a jarring feeling to navigate. I was experimenting with weed again to see if I could balance out my mental state a little better, and one day, I was wondering if I was in a cycle of kind of self-fulfilling cause and effect; I'm sick of being down when I'm high, cos I'm high when I'm sick of being down." (Matt Bigland, Vocalist, Dinosaur Pile-Up)

With the groovy guitar riff that drives the song it is guaranteed to stick in your brain, Dinosaur Pile-Up have once again created a song that is not only deeply reflective and honest but incredibly catchy. With it's garage rock attitude, much like other songs by this band it feels like it belongs in a sweaty basement venue that's packed to the door with people swaying and bobbing their heads. The repetitive lyrics makes it one that's easy to chant along with and it's vibrant nature makes you want to join in. If you're looking for another song to keep you going till 'I've Felt Better' is released next month then this one is it.
