London based alternative artist Benji Taylor is releasing his new emotive single 'Such Is Life' on the 24th of January.
Benji Taylor is releasing his new single 'Such Is Life'. The emotion driven piece focuses on a personal tale of drug and alcohol abuse. Known for his captivating and emotive sound London based alternative artist Benji Taylor has gained a loyal following within the London alt scene. Originally from a small town in the South of England, Taylor moved to London in his early 20's to pursue his musical passions. He draws inspiration from a wide range of musical styles including emo, indie, punk, folk and electronica. His alternative, indie sound combines raw and honest lyrics with haunting melodies and intricate guitar work. 'Such Is Life' was written around a time of Taylor's life when he was "off the rails". The track itself is themed around drug and alcohol abuse and self-deprecation. It comes after a show which Taylor played in Brighton with his previous band Beach Hotel where he experienced a drug and alcohol fueled emotional breakdown. This song is representative of that night and others where Taylor found that his past problems had gotten out of hand. 'Such Is Life' may not lyrically be about the happiest of topics but it still manages to be a vibrant track that if you just heard in passing you would believe this to be a happy song. However, the modern indie/alternative track is polished off with emotional lyrics and haunting vocals that deliver the story perfectly. I think that is a track that you can get lost in easily and I personally am a big fan of Benji Taylors vocal style, so I don't think there's anything from him that I don't like. It's sort of Placebo meets local indie/alt rock and 'Such Is Life' is definitely worth checking out when it is released on the 24th.
