Shortest Straw dive into emotional rawness on their crushing brutal track 'Hostility'.
A couple of months ago Shortest Straw released their second single 'Hostility' and this is your reminder to go and listen to it. Formed in 2024 the Belfast five-piece have been actively carving their name into the UK and Ireland music scene. The bands already extensive touring and approach to their craft shows how willing they are to throw everything they have into this act. Sound wise the combination of thrash, death, beatdown and 00's metalcore mixed with deeply emotional story telling furthers them as a band that people want to get to know and listen to. Single 'Hostility' comes with a crushing weight and feels heavy on the 00's metalcore nostalgia but definitely takes elements of other parts of the heavy genre's. As the drums thunder through, the guitars deliver metalcore melodies, combined with the gritty and gutteral vocals this track is pulled into something powerful and raw. While in my opinion I don't think anything recorded could compare to seeing Shortest Straw live I feel like this release does bottle a lot of the elements you can hear within their sound and hints of the incredible energy which they possess. The band from Belfast may be fairly new to the scene but keep your eyes and ears on these guys because I have no doubt they are going to keep breaking through barriers and charging into place as one of your new favourite heavy bands.
