On Every Page take listeners on an atmospheric journey with their new metalcore EP 'Liminal Spaces'. Rising in the scene, On Every Page from Giessen, Germany have already been seen supporting the likes of Accvsed, Certain Skies and Chaosbay. They also performed across Germany, gaining new fans at every stop on the 'Meltdown Tour 2024'. With their melodic and emotional approach to metalcore, On Every Page have become popular at not only scene events but also on mainstream stages too. Opening with a powerful atmospheric vibe complete with some sweet choir vocals the only thing that keeps this intro feeling like a metalcore track is the guitar that sings in the background. 'Minerva' doesn't stay calm for long though as the commanding vocals roar in picking the energy up instantly. This song is clearly emotion fueled as is most of this EP. 'Minerva' is compelling and so fitting to the modern metalcore sound. From this first track you can hear influences from the likes of Trivium, or A Day To Remember, making this a standout track. The more times I listen to this track the more I want to keep coming back for more, it has the perfect balance of rough and sweet sounding moments. 'If I Die In A Cage I Lose A Bet' is my favourite song title on the EP, I can't say for certain that it's a Rick and Morty reference but either way it looks a little bit out of place on the tracklist and made me really intrigued to listen to the song itself. Straight of the bat this one is heavier and packs a punch. This one feels more anthemic and heavy metal rather than metalcore, the instruments thunder along fueling the impressive powerful vocals. At times I would say the guitars even feel a little bit more like they're playing power metal, but no matter what genre of metal this song is leaning into On Every Page do a great job of it. My favourite song on 'Liminal Spaces' is 'No Heaven Left', the guitars take charge and the bloodthirsty opening riff had me hooked in from the start, the vocals and drums just add to the power this track has when they join. Vocally this band impress me on every song but the clean vocals especially stand out on this one, yet the song wants to give you more of the raw harsh sounds. For a track that seems to be about going through something bad, at times it's got an upbeat energy about it that in a way makes it kind of fun. It's obvious why people seem to be loving this one. About a complex journey through the subconscious liminal spaces, the title track is probably the most mysterious and atmospheric feeling. Unlike the previous tracks this one took some time to grow on me, I didn't really get into it until the heavy vocals crashed in at about a minute in, but from that point on I thought this one just kept getting better. I am also a big fan of liminal spaces and spooky things like that so I found the concept of the track really interesting, especially how they took something that is known to be creepy and turned that feeling towards their own minds. Finishing off the EP, On Every Page slow things right down and the melodic 'IHTLYG' giving a strongly emotional end to 'Liminal Spaces'. The guitars in this one feel so modern while vocally it gives a very classic European sound. I quite liked how they brought the choir vocals back in for this one, having them start and end the EP was a cool idea. However, 'IHTLYG' as a whole just didn't keep me as entertained as the other five-tracks, it sort of lets 'Liminal Spaces' fade out rather than finishing on a high. After listening to 'Liminal Spaces' I can understand why On Every Page are a new promising band in the scene. These guys have a sound that's so modern while also having a layer that any classic metal fan could enjoy as well. It's also clear how their powerful lyrics could be enjoyed by many not just people who like heavy music, and their evocative writing style makes 'Liminal Spaces' an all round experience. I personally will be listening to this EP again and I would recommend any music fans check this one out too.
