I always know going into a Dopamine show that fun is away to be had. Drawing crowds that are always ready to party, mosh or really whatever they're asked to it's always a great night. The headline show at Slay saw the rock group supported by Perth indie rockers Deavenu, Pop-Punk feeling group Crashes and alt rockers In Vertigo. As people were piling into the room indie rockers Deavenu filled the venue with their strong pop leaning indie rock sound. A band I'd never listened to or even heard of before but one that captured my attention in the live setting. Their songs have a sort of soulful presence with gentle indie rock vibes. By the end of their set most people from the stage to the bar were bopping along with their bright tracks. The second act of the night was one that I found myself immediately checking out once I got home. Using the screens at the side of the stage (which I don't see many artists doing), Crashes set opened with cartoon character versions of them playing out a scene on the screen. Sound wise there's definitely a pop-punk lean with these guys and their dreamy melodies will have you hooked. The bands fun energy had me wanting to jump about and get involved and it appeared the same for most people in the still steadily filling room. Recorded Crashes are really vibey and that translates into something bigger on a stage when you add in their big personality, the silly visuals on the screen and their ability to make everyone want to sing and dance along it all adds up to a really great set. Main support In Vertigo are a band I've heard of before but have never had the chance to catch live. What I will say is if you were thinking about going to see them go, don't hesitate. Putting on a show that simultaneously combines dark goth or punk energy with their massive alt rock sound they are a very exciting band to see. In Vertigo not only look great and have amazing stage presence but they also sound monumental. Vocally not only taking on harsher punk-like moments but also big soaring parts too. I'm very excited to see what will come from in Vertigo in the future, I believe they said something about new music coming soon so keep your eyes and ears peeled for that. Then the moment everyone had been waiting for came and the larger than life Dopamine took to the stage. This is a band that never fail to capture the attention of everyone in a room, with large alt rock riffs, catchy addictive vocal melodies and massive drum beats. This is a band that have earned the following they've gained and the loyal fans honestly make their shows. The interaction between band and fans always feels so genuine as vocalist Levi Black frequently makes their way down to sing with the audience.

During the set Dopamine battled through the heat and illness delivering an unforgettable performance, playing songs new and old giving a little something for everyone. The band even teased some new material that felt like a bit of a new vibe for them, something a little more grown up and instrumentally heavier. I'm excited to continue to follow Dopamine on their journey as they conquer even bigger stages (last time I saw them was at Audio so to take on Slay felt like a big yet deserved jump), create more great music and continue to be one of the most loveable bands in the Scottish scene at the moment.
