Afterlife - Bad Habits

Afterlife share their 'Bad Habits' with frenetic new single.

Afterlife release their new single 'Bad Habits'. After solidifying their lineup back in 2017 Afterlife have been proving themselves as one of the most exciting modern acts. Dropping their debut EP 'Vicious Cycle' in that same year and then going on to sell out their first ever headline gig these guys had a promising trajectory right from the start and to this day they show no signs of slowing down. 2024 even saw the act reach TikTok virality with single 'Bleed You Dry'. New release 'Bad Habits' sees Afterlife talk personally about how sometimes the things you use to cope aren't good for you.

"'Bad Habits' is about realizing that your behaviour or vices are negatively impacting the people around you. It captures the struggle between denial and self-awareness, ultimately becoming a cry for help. As people, we all struggle with life and the unfortunate circumstances it brings. Sometimes the way we cope, the ways we 'get by' can become harmful, not only to ourselves but to those around us. One of my favourite deliveries in the song takes place in verse two, where I intensely describe my battle with denial: 'Then I put a fake face on, 'cause I'm headed to a place that I gotta get away from/Can you help me get away from all the pain, the doubt, the fear that traps me here?' The song is a perfect description of how I was feeling on a day-to-day basis at various points in my life." - (Tyler Levenson, Vocalist, Afterlife)

Massively modern, glitchy and almost chaotic 'Bad Habits' is a powerful track that has already earned it's place on more than one of my playlists. With it's bouncy energy that's placed right next to something a little darker Afterlife capture the intensity of struggle and turn it into a hit. Everything about this songs screams with something larger than life between the intense vocal, the glitchy moments and the massive chugs, Afterlife have created a song that will further cement them as one of the most exciting bands we have within this scene.
