The Howling Tides/Anchor Lane - 28/05/2022 - Cathouse, Glasgow

What an incredible finish to the weekend! The Howling Tides and Anchor Lane are a perfect fit for a co-headline and after almost two weeks on the road they ended their tour with an energetic closing set in Anchor Lane's hometown.

The Howling Tides

First act of this night was Midlands hard rockers The Howling Tides. After seeing them I can say I wish I'd heard of these guys sooner. The four-piece throw groovy, aggressive guitar riffs at you with powerful vocals and an attitude that belongs on stage. There wasn't a moment where I wasn't totally invested in the high intensity, explosive performance. A stand out part of the set for me was when they performed 'Crack My Soul' (which has quickly become a favourite song of mine). When watching The Howling Tides give their all this song in particular felt like they literally threw everything they had into it and their chemistry mixed with the upbeat, pounding drums, an energised rock guitar riff and a light show that kept up made this a moment that made you forget about everything outside of that room. I will 100% be seeing these guys again in the future as their Cathouse performance is a set I could relive again and again.

Anchor Lane

Anchor Lane are a band that I have seen a few times now and they never disappoint. There shows are fun and the perfect excuse to headbang and dance along to their guitar driven alt-rock music. This may have been the last show of the tour but that doesn't mean the group weren't still full of energy, delivering a great show for their hometown. This was my first time seeing Anchor Lane as a headlining act and the audience who came to see them matched their energy singing and grooving along. The set was full of regular setlist tracks and the band also treated us to some new songs that they have been working on. Every one of the new tracks I heard got me more and more excited for the release of new music from Anchor Lane and prove that they just keep growing and developing within their sound. Along with the new music a stand out moment for me was track 'Nitroglycerin' which with it's heavy alt-rock sound is a song that always has such a power live but I especially found this to be true at the Cathouse show. You could feel the emotion in the track and it was easy to get lost in as the energy just grew and grew before coming to a hard hitting end. Anchor Lane are another band I strongly recommend checking out and seeing live if you get the chance. They constantly prove themselves to be incredible songwriters and performers.
