Keeper feat Kellin Quinn - Upside Down

Keeper and Kellin Quinn ride straight into the aftershock of a brutal separation on new track 'Upside Down'.

Keeper and Kellin Quinn collaborate on a post-breakup tale that's packed with pop-punk/emo nostalgia. Keeper has been gaining the attention of many people's ears with this solo project. Melting together sounds of the 00's like pop-punk and post-hardcore with elements of hyper-pop and emo rap, Keeper is rightfully rising as an emerging artist. With each release, including 'Cynical' which featured emo pop-rock artist Tally Spear, Keeper has been further pushing genre boundaries and making it work. Doing a collab with an artist like Kellin Quinn just makes sense for them and the emo nostalgia felt within this track is only heightened by the appearance of the Sleeping With Sirens frontman.

"Working with Kellin was incredible. I sent him a wishful DM and heard nothing back for weeks, until one day I noticed a follow and a message from him. Not only did he love the track, but he put down a verse in no time at all. Within a week, it's being mixed - and just like that, on a random day in May, I'm listening to a full mix of my song featuring a guy that I've been listening to since I was a teenager. Insane." - (Keeper)

'Upside Down' was also written and recorded alongside Jon Cass (As Everything Unfolds) and features drum contributions from Tom Connolly (Dream State) This single is a tale of post-breakup self reflection as a lot of Keepers recent tracks seem to be about. It shows an evolution in the artists sound while still keeping true to the impressive genre blending that has featured in previous songs.

"If I think about it, writing this song marked a new beginning for Keeper. I've been blending genres for a while now, but usually in clearly defined sections. This was the first time where I tried to fuse everything together seamlessly. It inspired everything else that followed - without 'Upside Down', the rest of the new material just simply wouldn't exist. It's the perfect blend of what Keeper has been and what Keeper is becoming." - (Keeper)

'Upside Down' is a modern pop-punk track with a healthy dose of emo rawness. It's massive chorus sees Keepers sound take it up a notch. I've listened to this artist for a little while now and out of all the recent singles I've covered, this one in my opinion is definitely the strongest. Then there's the fact it features Kellin Quinn and honestly I couldn't think of a better person to be present on this track, he brings another level of that emo nostalgia while also adding a bit of a harsher tone to the track. If this is just the beginning of what Keeper is becoming than I am more than ready to see where this ride takes them.
