Junior VP - Joy

Glasgow (ish) alternative band Junior VP release their newest single 'Joy'

Junior VP release their deeply personal new single 'Joy'. For fans of artists like Weezer, Jimmy Eat World or Pixies, Junior VP have a familiar yet fresh sound. The name 'Junior Vice President' pays tribute to the US college rock and indie/emo bands that have inspired them and that sound is clearly heard within their music. Having begun releasing music in December 2025 Junior VP are already on a pretty impressive trajectory. New single 'Joy' talks about being on antidepressants for years and the personal effect that has had.

"'Joy' is a darkly funny and deeply personal track about being on antidepressants for years and the plateauing of emotions that can come with it. The main hook of 'I don't know what joy is' sounds a bit grim but in reality it's about stability and not swinging from low to high." - (Junior VP)

With a loser-core emo/indie rock vibe this alternative track completely captures a disconnected sort of energy. It's an unusual track that feels rooted in something familiar clearly inspired by artists like the Pixies or Weezer. The pop melodies mixed with the gritty tones make this an accessible track for fans of most genre's, and give it a memorable edge. Closing out the track the hook of "I don't know what joy is" repeats almost feeling as though our storyteller is zoning out into nothingness, furthering the feelings felt throughout.
