Gallus - Sick Bastards

Gallus make their mighty return with frantic new single 'Sick Bastards'.

Gallus are back with an announcement of their second album 'Life is Bliss', coming September 25th via Marshall Records. You can listen to first single 'Sick Bastards' now! The gloriously unapologetic act from Glasgow known as Gallus have been making big waves in alternative music including the massive support of previous album 'We Don't Like The People We've Become' (2023) from critics and fans alike. The energetic indie-punk act originated as many bands do from a Glasgow pub, when cousins Paul and Eamon Ewins teamed up with Barry Dolan. Despite their limited musical backgrounds the group pushed forward with the addition of Gianluca Bernacchi and Matt McGoldrick and created a group that have become one of the most talked about in the local scene. Becoming especially known for their insane live shows it came as no surprise that the act would play support for the likes of Biffy Clyro and get crowned Best Rock/Alternative at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards 2022. Fast forward to 2026 and Gallus are gearing up to release their second album with lead single 'Sick Bastards' out now.

"'Sick Bastards' is about that point where you've run out of chances, run out of excuses and everyone can see you've made a complete arse of things. Instead of taking responsibility, the character just doubles down and starts pointing fingers at everyone else. It's ridiculous, funny and a bit pathetic, which made it a very enjoyable song to write. It felt like the perfect introduction to 'Life is Bliss' because it captures a lot of the humour, frustration and self inflicted chaos that runs through the record." - (Gallus)

Blurring the line between confession and satire Gallus take the fun, bouncy track but pack it full of lyrical realism. This is a band that have never shyed away from using humour as a tool to convey dysfunction and 'Sick Bastards' is no different. This is a single that doesn't seem to take itself too seriously and is one that you can just have a bit of fun listening to. The good time anthem manages to capture that "f*ck it" attitude that comes with running out of choices but shows off the themes in such a humorous way. I can say for certain after hearing 'Sick Bastards' I am beyond excited to hear what else will come from new project 'Life is Bliss'.
