Dinosaur Pile-Up - Bout To Lose It

Dinosaur Pile-Up are back with a brand new single and have announced signing with Mascot Records.

After overcoming life-threatening illnesses and finding a fresh perspective on real priorities Dinosaur Pile-Up are back with their brand new single 'Bout To Lose It'. After about four or five years away minus a few festival appearances Dinosaur Pile-Up are making their big return. Back in early 2021 frontman of the alt rock group Matt Bigland was faced with the very real truth that life is short and fragile, when ulcerative colitis left him in critical care. This gave him a new perspective on what's really important.

“It’s not about whether I might get to be rich and famous any more, It’s about being excited for people to get to hear my songs. I want to be free of the bullshit of how people perceive me – or us – and what it means to be a ‘cool band’. I’m proud that we’re still here as a band at all. I’m proud that I’m still here as a person. And I’m just so stoked that I’m still able to make music. That’s what I want to do. That’s why I’m here...” - (Matt Bigland)

The band have faced a few struggles in their time and back in 2018 after ten years of chasing opportunities Dinosaur Pile-Up had achieved the status of being one of the most beloved alt rock bands, but it also left them flat broke, physically and mentally drained, and without a label to release their fourth album 'Celebrity Mansions', which became their make-or-break record with them agreeing that if the release was a failure that they would call it quits. Thankfully though, 'Celebrity Mansions' was a success that led them to tours with Shinedown, The Offspring and Sum 41. Fast forward to 2025 and the group are back with force, their new single 'Bout To Lose It' is one not to be messed with.

"'Bout To Lose It' is about feeling completely and utterly on the edge of your capacity emotionally. I wanted to write a song that had an intro that would correctly set the scene of the first track back after a 4 or 5 year break from being 'out in the world' due to ill health. I wanted it to be intense and visceral. And I wanted it to be heavy metal." (Matt Bigland)

'Bout To Lose It' crashes in with a turbulent riff that's guaranteed to turn heads. I actually have never listened to these guys before this song yet the super energized power of this one has me wanting to stick around for more. It's an almost erratic feeling, riff fueled alt rock track, with a chorus that would fit right into a late 90's grunge rock album. You can feel every bit of vulnerability that is poured into this song showing off the talents of the band as songwriters, Dinosaur Pile-Up are not only back but they may be better then ever.
